At Slocum Cares, giving back isn’t something we do once a year — it’s what we do all year long. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting local charities and strengthening our Rhode Island community, every event we host carries one simple mission: make a meaningful impact right here at home.

On October 6th, that mission was on full display at the 3rd Annual Slocum Shootout, an unforgettable day of golf, community, and generosity that raised $13,500 for two incredible local organizations.

A Day of Golf with a Powerful Purpose

The Slocum Shootout has quickly become one of our most anticipated annual fundraising events — and this year’s tournament was our biggest and best yet. With a full course of golfers, generous sponsors, and overwhelming community support, the energy on the course was inspiring from the very first tee time.

More than just a golf tournament, the Slocum Shootout represents what can happen when local businesses, families, and neighbors come together for something bigger than themselves.

Supporting Two Incredible Local Charities

This year’s funds were proudly donated to:

American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) – A national organization with a powerful local presence, APDA is dedicated to providing vital education, resources, and support for individuals and families living with Parkinson’s disease. Their work impacts countless families across Rhode Island and beyond.
Button Hole – A truly special nonprofit golf course and education center whose mission is to make the game of golf accessible to everyone, regardless of background, income, or ability. From youth programs to adaptive golf initiatives, Button Hole is changing lives through the game.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, each organization received a portion of the $13,500 raised — funding that will directly support their programs and the people they serve.

Recently, the Slocum Cares team had the honor of presenting both APDA and Button Hole with their donation checks. These moments are always emotional and rewarding — seeing firsthand how the community’s support turns into real-world impact is what drives everything we do.
